Sydney Aboriginal Services Ltd (SASL) is an Aboriginal joint venture, not-for-profit organisation created by Gandangara Local Aboriginal Land Council in Liverpool, servicing Sydney’s South West. SASL currently services the operational needs of no less than four Local Aboriginal Land Council’s and is rapidly growing into one of the largest Aboriginal management company’s and service providers in Australia.
An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Supported Playgroup Worker to join our team to establish Aboriginal Supported Playgroups in the South Western Sydney area. Responsibilities will include:
- Engaging Aboriginal families and promoting the benefits of Playgroups
- Establishing new playgroups initially in the Liverpool and Campbelltown areas
- Supporting families to actively participate in appropriate playgroup activities with their young children
- Empowering families to organise and manage playgroup activities independently wherever possible
Applications are invited from individuals with relevant skills, qualifications and experience. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is able to engage and provide access to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with young children, quality playgroup experiences.
The initial term of employment will be from April to December, 2011, with the possibility of extension in the future.
The successful applicant must hold a current driver’s licence. Playgroup is a smoke free workplace. All staff must undertake Police and Working with Children Checks.
